Chris Lencheski, owner of the Quad City Mallards “AA” professional hockey team, today made the following statement regarding this afternoon’s joint announcement by the Central Hockey League and International Hockey League:

"A great deal of work from a great many people has made all of this possible and we are certainly proud to have played our part.  This announcement insures a level of stability rarely seen in minor league sports, so this is great news for our fans and partners and the Quad Cities as a whole.  We look forward to playing in the Central Hockey League next season and starting exciting new rivalries to go along with the rivalries we will carry over from the International Hockey League."

Mallards Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Frank Anzalone also commented on today’s announcement:

"This is a great opportunity for the Mallards to be part of an exciting new venture at the AA professional level.  The Central Hockey League will offer our fans a fast paced, exciting brand of hockey that will be enjoyable to watch.  I am looking forward to putting together the roster for the 2010-2011 CHL Mallards."
